Why My Handmade Jewelry Costs a Little More – and Why It's Worth It
I’m often asked why my jewelry is more expensive than many pieces you’ll find online or in traditional retail stores.
The answer is simple: each piece is handmade in my own studio - individually designed, carefully crafted, and created using high-quality materials.
Every item of jewelry is made entirely by hand: from the initial sketch to the final polish, it passes through my hands. I take the time that true craftsmanship requires, pay close attention to every detail, and work with years of experience and a deep respect for the materials.
A distinctive feature of my work is the use of enamel - a centuries-old technique where colored glass is fused onto metal at high temperatures.
Enamel jewelry demands patience and precision - and has become rare in its true form today. The colors remain vibrant over time and add unique depth and character to every piece.
I work exclusively with high-grade precious metals:
925 sterling silver, 14k (585) and 18k (750) yellow gold or palladium white gold, and 950 platinum.
These metals are durable, skin-friendly, and form the foundation for jewelry meant to last a lifetime.
Of course, there is cheaper jewelry available - usually mass-produced, industrially made, and often using low-quality alloys.
What I offer is the opposite:
An honest, valuable piece of jewelry art. Handmade with care and designed to bring lasting joy.
Thank you for recognizing and appreciating this difference.
Yours sincerely,
Stefan Wiessmeyer – Jewelry Designer
